Sarangani Province is one of the provinces in Region XII, also known as SOCCSKSARGEN or South Central Mindanao. It consists of seven (7) municipalities: the coastal towns of Alabel, Malapatan, Glan, Maasim, Kiamba, Maitum, and the landlocked town of Malungon. It is home to indigenous people such as B’laan, T’boli, Manobo, Ubo, Kalagan, Tagakaolo, and Moro, in which they have rich traditions that are passed from generation until this present time.
Physical Features
The topography of Sarangani Province is characterized by rolling and steep slopes because of the mountain ranges that surround the area. The Alip Range and Daguma Range are found in Sarangani, as well as. However, Mt. Parker’s and Mt. Matutum’s peaks do not belong to the jurisdiction of the province.
The province has also 6 watersheds, namely Kling-Nalus-Tual-Suagen, Lun Masla-Suyan, Lun Padidu-Tuyan-Malapatan, Margus Grande, New La Union Barangay, Glan-Malteo. Other water formations in Sarangani are rivers (51 in total) and creeks (19, those are wet all year round). |
